Why you can't download a Loom video on the free plan, and what to do
Loom only lets people on its paid plans download videos: Atlassian's help page says Starter creators and admins can't, and neither can viewers who aren't signed in to a paid workspace. If the video is yours and you're on a paid plan or trial, open it on loom.com and use Download. If it's someone else's, ask its owner to download it or turn downloads on. For future videos, record with a tool that keeps the file on your computer, like Emaki, which downloads MP4 for free.
Emaki doesn't download Loom videos, and we don't recommend third-party Loom downloaders: they depend on Loom's site staying the same and may break Loom's terms.

Download a Loom video
Check your plan
On loom.com, open your workspace's plan. Download is on Business, Business + AI and Enterprise; Starter doesn't have it.
Download on a paid plan
Open the video on loom.com, open its menu and choose Download. Do this for every video you want to keep before a trial or subscription ends.
Ask the owner for someone else's video
If someone shared a Loom with you, ask them to download it and send the file, or to allow downloads on that video.
Record future videos you can always keep
Record with Emaki at emaki.appzlr.com/record/: the video is made on your computer, and MP4 download is free, with no account.
- Emaki's share links let viewers download the video unless the owner turns that off with Emaki Pro.
- Atlassian's help page also says Enterprise admins can turn downloads off for a whole workspace.
Questions and answers
Why is there no Download button on my Loom video?
Most likely you're on Loom's free Starter plan, which can't download videos, or the workspace admin turned downloads off. Downloading needs a paid Loom plan.
How do I download a Loom video without paying?
Loom doesn't offer a way on its free plan. Ask the video's owner for the file, or download your own videos during a paid trial. Videos you record with Emaki are on your computer from the start and download as MP4 for free.
Can Emaki download Loom videos?
No. Emaki is a screen recorder, not a downloader. It records new videos that you own as files on your computer.
Are Emaki recordings uploaded?
No. Emaki records in your browser and keeps the video on your computer. It's only uploaded if you create a share link, and that copy is deleted when the link expires.
