How to screenshot a whole X (Twitter) thread
Open the post on x.com in Chrome and use Emaki, a free Chrome extension. In Capture settings, turn on Open hidden comments and replies first, then press Full page. Emaki clicks Show replies and Show more replies until none are left, then scrolls the thread from the first post to the last reply and stitches it into one tall image.
X loads replies as you scroll, hides some behind Show replies and Show more replies, and removes posts that are far off screen. Emaki opens those buttons first and waits for each part to redraw before every shot, so the thread comes out whole.

Open the thread
Add Emaki from the Chrome Web Store, then open the post on x.com in Chrome. To start at the top of a thread, open its first post.
Turn on Open hidden comments and replies first
Click the Emaki icon in the toolbar to open the side panel, open Capture settings and turn on Open hidden comments and replies first. It's off by default. Leave it off to capture only the replies X already shows.
Press Full page
Emaki clicks Show replies and Show more replies again and again until none are left or it reaches its limit, then scrolls the page and stitches every shot into one image. Press Stop here to keep what's captured so far.
Save or edit it
Click Download to save the capture as a PNG, or Edit to save it as a JPG or PDF. With Emaki Pro, the editor also crops it, adds arrows, boxes or text, or blurs private details first.
- Emaki recognizes these buttons in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. If X is in another language, open the replies you want by hand before you capture, or switch X to one of these languages.
- It clicks buttons only, never links that would leave the page. X changes its buttons from time to time, so check the capture before you share it.
- Free captures are up to 150 shots long. Emaki Pro goes up to 1000.
Questions and answers
Why does X's top bar repeat down my screenshot?
It stays fixed while the page scrolls, so it's in every shot. Turn on Remove repeating sticky headers in Emaki Pro ($10/month or $100/year) to show it once. On the free plan, a larger Overlap in Capture settings usually helps.
Can I capture the thread without the replies?
Yes. Leave Open hidden comments and replies first off, press Full page, and press Stop here once the capture has passed the last post you want.
Does Emaki send the posts anywhere?
No. To find the buttons, Emaki reads their labels on your computer, and nothing is sent anywhere. Screenshots are processed on your computer and never uploaded, unless you create a Pro share link or use an AI edit.
