How to screenshot a whole ChatGPT conversation
Use Emaki, a free Chrome extension. Open the conversation, choose Scrolling area, click the messages and press Capture the whole area, or simply press Full page. Emaki scrolls the conversation from the first message to the last and stitches it into one tall image, which you can save as a PNG or a PDF. It works the same way for Claude and Gemini chats.
ChatGPT's conversation scrolls inside the page, not the window, and long threads remove messages that are far off screen, then draw them again as you scroll back. A tool that takes its shot too soon gets blank gaps. Emaki waits until the page has finished redrawing before every shot, so each message is in the image.

Open the conversation
Add Emaki from the Chrome Web Store, then open the conversation on chatgpt.com in Chrome. Claude (claude.ai) and Gemini (gemini.google.com) work the same way.
Pick the conversation
Click the Emaki icon in the toolbar to open the side panel. Choose Scrolling area, then click anywhere in the messages. Or press Full page: on a page whose window doesn't scroll, Emaki picks the chat panel for you and starts right away.
Press Capture the whole area
Emaki scrolls up to the first message, loading earlier ones if the chat has any (Load earlier messages first is on by default in Capture settings). Then it scrolls down to the last message and stitches every shot into one image.
Save or edit it
Click Download to save the capture as a PNG, or Edit to save it as a JPG or PDF. With Emaki Pro, the editor also crops it, adds arrows, boxes or text, or blurs private details first.
- For a PDF, click Edit, then the arrow next to Save PNG, and choose PDF. Page breaks fall in the gaps between lines and messages, so no line is cut in half. It's free.
- Free captures are up to 150 shots long. Emaki Pro goes up to 1000, for very long conversations.
- Emaki captures the conversation as it shows on screen, so open anything collapsed that you want in the image first.
Questions and answers
Why does my ChatGPT screenshot have blank gaps?
To stay fast, long ChatGPT threads remove messages that are far off screen and draw them again when you scroll back. A screenshot tool that shoots before a part has been drawn again captures empty space. Emaki waits until the page has finished redrawing before each shot.
Does it work for Claude and Gemini?
Yes. Open the chat in Chrome, choose Scrolling area and click the messages, or press Full page. The same steps work for most chat apps in the browser.
Can I capture the ChatGPT desktop or phone app?
No. Emaki is a browser extension, so it captures chatgpt.com in Chrome or Edge. Open the conversation in the browser to capture it.
Does Emaki upload my conversation?
No. Screenshots and page content are processed on your computer and never uploaded. The only exceptions are ones you choose: an AI edit on Pro + AI sends just the image or area you're editing to Google's Gemini API, and a Pro share link uploads that one capture until the link expires.
