Emaki guide

How to screenshot a whole Discord channel or DM

Open Discord in Chrome at discord.com/app and use Emaki, a free Chrome extension. Choose Scrolling area, click the messages and press Capture the whole area. Emaki loads earlier messages first, then scrolls the channel, thread or DM from the first message down and stitches it into one tall image.

Discord's messages scroll inside the page, older ones load only as you scroll up, and messages far off screen are removed. Emaki scrolls up until no older messages load, and waits for each part to redraw before every shot, so the image has no gaps.

Step by step

Screenshot a whole Discord channel, thread or DM

  1. Open Discord in Chrome

Add Emaki from the Chrome Web Store, then open discord.com/app in Chrome and go to the channel, thread or DM.

  2. Check Load earlier messages first

Click the Emaki icon in the toolbar to open the side panel, then open Capture settings. Load earlier messages first is on by default: Emaki scrolls to the top until no older messages load, then captures from the first message. Turn it off to capture only the messages already loaded.

  3. Pick the message list

Choose Scrolling area, then click anywhere in the messages. To capture a thread, click inside the thread instead.

  4. Press Capture the whole area

Emaki loads earlier messages, then scrolls down to the newest one and stitches every shot into one image. A busy channel can go back a long way: press Stop here while it's loading to start from what has loaded.

  5. Save or edit it

Click Download to save the capture as a PNG, or Edit to save it as a JPG or PDF. With Emaki Pro, the editor also crops it, adds arrows, boxes or text, or blurs private details first.

  • Free captures are up to 150 shots long and Emaki Pro up to 1000. On a very long channel, Emaki loads only as much history as one capture can hold, so the capture always ends on the newest message.
  • Chrome lets extensions take about two screenshots per second, so a long channel takes a little time.
FAQ

Questions and answers

Can I capture the Discord desktop app?

No. Emaki is a browser extension, so it captures Discord in Chrome or Edge. Sign in at discord.com/app in the browser to capture a channel or DM.

How far back does it go?

Back to the first message, unless you press Stop here while it's loading or the channel is longer than one capture can hold: up to 150 shots on the free plan and 1000 on Emaki Pro. Then Emaki loads only as much history as fits, so the capture always ends on the newest message.

Can I hide usernames before I share it?

Yes, with Emaki Pro ($10/month or $100/year). The editor's blur tool hides names, avatars and anything else private. The free plan saves the capture as a PNG, JPG or PDF, without editing.

Does Emaki upload my messages?

No. Screenshots and page content are processed on your computer and never uploaded. The only exceptions are ones you choose: an AI edit on Pro + AI sends just the image or area you're editing to Google's Gemini API, and a Pro share link uploads that one capture until the link expires.
