How to cancel Loom without losing your videos

Download the videos you want to keep first, while you're still on a paid plan: Loom's free Starter plan can't download. Then cancel where your billing lives. On a workspace managed by Atlassian, a billing or organization admin goes to Atlassian Administration, Billing, Subscriptions, Manage on the Loom subscription, then Deactivate. On an older Loom-only workspace, go to Workspace Settings, Plan & Billing, Manage Subscription, and choose the Starter plan. Paid features stay until the end of the billing period.

After a downgrade, your videos stay but Starter's limits apply: 25 videos per person, 5-minute recordings and no downloads. With more than 25 videos, you can't record again until you delete some.

Step by step

Cancel Loom without losing your videos

  1. Download the videos you want to keep

    Before you cancel, open each video you need on loom.com and choose Download. On Starter you won't be able to.

  2. Find where your billing lives

    If your workspace is managed by Atlassian, only a billing or organization admin can cancel, from Atlassian Administration (admin.atlassian.com). Older Loom-only workspaces cancel from Loom's own settings.

  3. Cancel or downgrade

    Atlassian: Billing, Subscriptions, Manage on the Loom subscription, then Deactivate, and choose to cancel or move to Starter. Loom-only: Workspace Settings, Plan & Billing, Manage Subscription, then the Starter plan.

  4. Check the next bill

    Atlassian says members added since your last bill may still be charged on the day you cancel. Remove members you don't need first, and check your billing page afterwards.

  5. Record what comes next without a plan

    For quick recordings after Loom, Emaki records your screen, camera and mic with no time limit and no account, and downloads MP4 for free.

  • The menu names come from Atlassian's help pages, checked in November 2026. If a screen looks different, look for Billing or Plan & Billing.
  • Free Creator Lite seats were turned into paid Creator seats when workspaces moved to Atlassian. Removing members you don't need lowers the bill even if you don't cancel.

Questions and answers

Do I lose my Loom videos if I cancel?

Not straight away: Atlassian's help page says existing videos stay when you move to Starter. But Starter can't download them, and with more than 25 you can't record more until you delete some. Download what you need before you cancel.

Why can't I cancel Loom myself?

On a workspace managed by Atlassian, only a billing admin or organization admin can cancel, from Atlassian Administration. Ask whoever manages your company's Atlassian account.

When does the cancellation take effect?

At the end of the billing period you've paid for. Until then you keep the paid features, including downloads.

What can I use instead of Loom for free?
